Columbus Crew acquires Brooks Lennon

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew announced Monday that the Club has acquired winger Brooks Lennon from free agency for an undisclosed fee. The Arizona native most recently suited up for the Five Stripes of Atlanta United, before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2025 MLS season.

Brooks is signed through June 2027, with Club options for the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons. Lennon is a 10-year MLS veteran, with experience across the league.

Lennon got his start with Real Salt Lake in 2017, joining the team on loan from Liverpool F.C. before signing on a permanent basis in 2018. During his tenure, he played in 86 matches, scoring 3 goals.

Lennon joined Atlanta United in 2020, playing 23 games (19 starts), registering two goals and three assists in just over 1,700+ minutes played. Lennon went into 2021 finding form, playing 32 matches (30 starts) and ending the season with six assists. From there on, Lennon featured 116 more times for the Five Stripes (104 starts), ending his tenure with seven goals and 23 assists from 2022-25.

In 2024, Lennon suffered a long-term shoulder injury during the Best-of-Three series against Inter Miami CF that kept him sidelined for four to six months.

Lennon made his U.S. Men’s National Team debut in 2021 against Bosnia and Herzegovina. He tallied four goals at the youth level for the U-20’s, helping guide them to their first-ever Concacaf Championship in 2017 and being named to the Best XI.
