In a major vote of confidence from both the player and the Club, midfielder Dylan Chambost has agreed to a contract extension with the Columbus Crew that will keep the French midfielder in Black & Gold beyond the previously reported 2026 expiration.
Chambost joined the Black & Gold midway through the 2024 season from AS Saint-Étienne and has become an integral piece of the Crew’s midfield and attacking build-up play since arriving in the Buckeye State. Known for his technical vision and ability to link play between midfield and attack, he helped the Crew in key MLS matches, contributing to goals and facilitating transitions in possession.
The deal sees Chambost dress for the Crew through June of 2029.
“Dylan’s consistency, reliability, and performances have been evident over the past three seasons. His professionalism and team-first mindset have made a strong impact within our locker room,” said General Manager Issa Tall.
“We are happy that Dylan will remain in Columbus for years to come, and we believe he will continue to grow and make an impact on our squad.”
Chambost has started just six of the seven regular-season matches in which he appeared for the Black & Gold so far this season, tallying three assists. In 2025, he was the only player to make an appearance in all 34 regular-season games, notching one goal and a career-high eight assists.
Role on the Pitch
Since arriving in MLS, Chambost has been deployed primarily as a central or attacking midfielder, where he can influence rhythm and help control tempo.
Under new head coach Henrik Rydström, Chambost’s blend of passing acumen and positional intelligence has given Columbus another dimension in attack that helps forward talents like Wessam Abou-Ali (before the season-ending injury) and Diego Rossi.
“I’m really happy and proud to be extending my contract with the Crew. Being part of this Club means a lot to me. I’m looking forward to continuing our journey together and achieving our goals,” said Chambost.

For the Crew, the extension signals a broader strategy of retaining core contributors and building continuity within the starting XI. With MLS competition becoming more intense each season, maintaining experienced playmakers like Chambost could be critical to the success of the Crew.
