COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew announced Tuesday morning that the Club has re-signed homegrown midfielder Sean Zawadzki to a multi-year contract extension running through 2030.
As a member of the Black & Gold, Zawadzki has appeared in 89 matches (66 starts), recording seven goals, two assists and just over 6,100+ minutes in his four seasons in MLS. Zawadzki has also tallied just under 600 minutes in 11 postseason matches, with six of them being starts.
Last season, Zawadzki started 27 matches, recording 2,430 minutes and two goals. He completed over 1,700+ passes, making him the fourth-most on the roster while also playing the full 90 minutes in all three Leagues Cup fixtures, as well as the Best-of-3 postseason series against in-state rivals FC Cincinnati.
During the 2024 season, Zawadzki started 20 of 27 regular season matches, recording one goal and two assists. Zawadzki donned the captain’s armband for the first time in the Club’s 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Union. He also starred in five appearances (four starts) for the Black & Gold helping the Crew reach the Concacaf Champions Cup Final.
In 2023, he appeared in 30 matches (15 starts) registering three goals in just over 1,500+ minutes played. Two of his three goals came in second half stoppage time, lifting the Crew to gain points during the 2023 MLS Cup championship year.

This contract extension is the result of his performance, dedication, and first-team mindset. He is a strong leader who provides an exceptional example to everyone at our Club from the First Team through the Academy, especially as a homegrown player who has progressed through our system.”
Zawadzki made his MLS debut in June of 2022, earning his first MLS start and playing the full 90 minutes. Just days later, he earned another start and notched his first MLS goal in the Crew’s 2-1 away win against Trillium Cup rivals Toronto FC. He also appeared for Columbus Crew 2 21 times (19 starts) recording one goal and two assists to help the Capybara’s capture the inaugural MLS Next Pro championship.

Zawadzki and company travel to the Pacific Northwest to open the 2026 MLS season against the Portland Timbers.
