The Columbus Crew announced a pair of transactions Tuesday afternoon, bringing in $675,000 combined general allocation money and dealing international roster spots.
Columbus confirmed the reported the rumored transaction concerning defender DeJuan Jones, first reported by GiveMeSport‘s Tom Bogert. The Black & Gold send the defender to the San Jose Earthquakes and in return collect $425,000 ($175,000 in 2025 GAM and $250,000 in 2026 GAM) and an International Roster Spot.
The Crew added Jones to the roster via trade with the New England Revolution on July 31, 2024. The Lansing, Michigan native played in 15 MLS regular season matches (seven starts) during the past two seasons, notching two goals and one assist. He was also a member of the Crew’s 2024 Leagues Cup Championship squad.
He famously scored the winning penalty kick just days into his stint with his new club, lifting the Black & Gold to a victory against New York City Football Club. Unfortunately for Jones, he couldn’t consistently find the field as he had the less-than-enviable task of attempting to usurp Max Arfsten and Mohamed Farsi, who have become mainstays in the Crew lineup.
Columbus announced another transaction later in the day, sharing it had acquired $250,000 in GAM ($125,000 in 2025 GAM and $125,000 in 2026 GAM) from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for an International Roster Spot.
