The Columbus Crew midfield just got stronger as the Club announced the signing of Dylan Chambost from AS Saint-Etienne Tuesday morning. Sources confirmed to Massive Report on Monday that the move was happening. Chambost will occupy an International Roster Slot, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa. He will be available for selection when the MLS secondary transfer window opens July 18. The Frenchman’s contract is guaranteed through 2026 with a Club option in 2027.
Chambost helped Saint-Etienne earn promotion back to Ligue 1 in France, playing every minute in the play-off series.
A product of the youth academy in France, Chambost recorded 20 goals in 74 matches for Saint-Etienne B from 2016-2019. He then made his professional debut for Saint-Etienne in 2018 against Troyes in the Coupe de France.
In 2019, Chambost then joined Troyes who were playing in Ligue 2, helping lift his side to the top spot of the table in the 2020-21 season to earn promotion to Ligue 1. Chambost appeared in 70 matches total before making his return to Saint-Etienne.
“Dylan is an experienced and versatile player who possesses technical and tactical abilities that will suit our style of play,” said General Manager Issa Tall.
“We are pleased to add a player of his caliber and skillset, which matche the specific profile we identified with [head coach] Wilfried Nancy for our roster. Dylan has gained valuable experiences in important matches, including helping his team earn promotion to Ligue 1 two times. We look forward to Dylan joining us in Columbus and getting integrated with our team once the transfer window opens.”
Chambost joins a talented midfield corps made of captain Darlington Nagbe, academy products Sean Zawadzki and Aidan Morris, Derrick Jones, and Crew 2 graduates Taha Habroune and Cole Mrowka.
The Columbus Crew are back in action Friday evening as they travel to New York City to take on New York City FC. Kickoff from Yankee Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT. You can watch the match on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
