Steven Moreira, Max Arfsten named to Team of the Matchday

Steven Moreira and Max Arfsten have been named to the Matchday 14 Team of the Matchday for their efforts in the Crew’s 3-1 win over CF Montreal. The Crew needed a win after their loss to FC Cincinnati, as the club hadn’t won an MLS game in 60 days prior to the match.

Moreira, who tallied two assists on the night earned a spot in the starting lineup. The Crew’s defender tallied the secondary assist on Diego Rossi’s goal to make the game 2-1, and the primary assist to Marino Hinestroza to make the game 3-1. This is Moreira’s second time being named to the MLS Team of the Matchday, earning honors in Matchweek 10 for his goal against the Portland Timbers that saw Columbus come from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 2-2 draw.

Max Arfsten was named to the bench for the Team of the Matchday, for his goal contribution helping Columbus get on the board against Montreal. Arfsten was able to hammer home the loose ball after Alex Matan’s initial shot was saved by Jonathan Sirois. Continuing to shine, Arfsten also got Columbus their consolation goal against FC Cincinnati late in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to beat their Hell Is Real rivals.

It’s worthy to note that Columbus has had at least one member on the Team of the Matchday roster, only missing out on only four match days.

Midfielder Aidan Morris has had the most nominations with four, while Cucho Hernandez and Moreira both have two to their name.

Columbus will look to impress yet again as they head into the Windy City to take on the Chicago Fire. Kickoff from Solider Field is set for 8:30 p.m. EDT. You can watch the game on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
