Last summer, Major League Soccer announced the 2024 MLS All-Star Game would be held at the Columbus Crew’s Lower.com Field in downtown Columbus, Ohio. On Monday, MLS updated the opponent for this summer.
The 2024 MLS All-Stars will face a team made up of the best players from Mexico’s Liga MX on Wednesday, July 24. This marks the third time MLS will host the Liga MX All-Stars in the annual All-Star Game. MLS has won both previous encounters, winning in 2021 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw and earning a earning a 2-1 victory the following year thanks to goals from LAFC’s Carlos Vela and the Seattle Sounders’ Raúl Ruidíaz.
Last season, the MLS All-Stars faced Arsenal of the English Premier League in Washington D.C. and hosted other top teams from across Europe, including Manchester United, Chelsea FC, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Prior to that, the league had done East vs. West or MLS vs. the World.
“It is an honor to host the 2024 MLS All-Star Game in Columbus, which is a truly special opportunity to bring our incredible sport, league, city, and stadium to the world,” Crew investor-operators Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement announcing the opponent. “Columbus and Lower.com Field will provide exceptional atmospheres for the competitions between North America’s best soccer leagues and talent, as well as for fans across the globe who will experience our city during this week-long celebration of soccer.”
In addition to the All-Star game, the 2024 Skills Challenge will take place at Lower.com Field. This even will feature 10 stars from
MLS against 10 stars from LIGA MX in “the ultimate test of skill.”
The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge will take place on July 23. The event will include five competitions including a shooting challenge, a touch challenge a cross and volley challenge a passing challenge presented by Oldrossbar Challenge.

showcasing the global and rising stars of our leagues, and the strength of our sport in North America,” MLS Executive Vice President of Properties and Events Camilo Durana said in the announcement. “Our previous encounters set high bars for intensity and competition in all-star games. The 2024 edition will be a night to remember for Columbus’ passionate fans and for audiences around the
world watching on MLS Season Pass.”
